Simplicity: New

The theme at Simplicity today is "new." I was just out this morning with my girls and happened to capture Chloe as she learned a brand new trick. She's been trying to figure it out for a while, but today she finally flipped on our bar. I think she shocked herself the first time!

Simplicity: Laughter AND The Paper Mama: Friend

I'm using this photo that I took today for two photo challenges. First, Simplicity is requesting laughter photos and Sophia is cracking up because her big sister is tickling her. Second, The Paper Mama is asking for friend pictures this week. I almost dug up one of Chloe and her BFF, but then I realized, her baby sister really is her best friend in the world.

I Heart Faces AND Simplicity: Pets

I Heart Faces and Simplicity are both asking for pet photos today so I'm torturing our poor cat, Scuttle. She's old and grumpy and sits around all day except when I want to take her picture. Then she moves around every 5 seconds trying to find bad lighting so that I can't get the shot. Ha! I guess that's just part of her charm.

 

Simplicity: Routine

The Simplicity theme this week is routine. This photo is actually more the result of breaking routing. You see, my girls still nap. Sophia especially needs this afternoon siesta (although she fights it harder than my older daughter). Unfortunately, all of the holiday fun this weekend interrupted our regularly scheduled down time. It was a little late for a nap by the time everyone left and the girls said they weren't tired anyway. However, this is what I found in our recliner just minutes later. I couldn't help but take a picture...she just looks like a little angel!

Simplicity: Pastel

I love how serious the girls get after an Easter egg hunt as they open the eggs and discover what's inside. This just seemed like such a quiet moment that I thought it deserved some softer processing than I usually do and I love how it made the color so muted and perfect for the pastel challenge.

Simplicity: Two

I'm getting in at the tail end of the Simplicity photo challenge for last week and the theme is "two." So, of course I am going to have to enter a photo of my two little angels!

Simplicity: Flowers & Leaves

I love, love, love this time of year when the bluebonnets start popping up everywhere here in Texas. Ahhhh....spring has sprung. Yea!

Paper Heart Camera: Frozen AND Simplicity: Sweet

Well, things here in Texas are definitely not frozen anymore. So, for this week's Paper Heart Camera challenge I went hunting in my freezer, which usually does NOT have anything interesting in it. However, as luck would have it, we had some ice cream cups left over from my daughter's birthday party. Not only do they fit the frozen theme, but this will also work nicely for the sweet theme at Simplicity this week. Now I think I'll go have some ice cream. Ha!

 

Simplicity: Everyday Life

My everyday life consists of lots of clutter on the floors. Specifically, I end up with lots of pink, purple and sparkly clutter. This photo depicts a small sample of my everyday life.

Simplicity: Weather

So, Faith wants weather entries at Simplicity this week. This entire week we have had drizzly, rainy mornings. But lucky for me, I have my own little ray of sunshine. Chloe had so much fun posing for birthday portaits with her sister's rainbow umbrella today! She'll turn 5 very soon.

Simplicity: Colorful

Faith at Simplicity is doing a Colorful challenge this week. We've been doing lots of arts and crafts here at our house during the past few months of wintery weather. So, when looking for cheery and colorful inspiration today, I decided on shooting some beads that the girls have been using to make necklaces and bracelets.

There are a lot of "heart" themed photo challenges this week (imagine that). This one is for the folks over at I Heart Faces and for Faith over at Simplicity. Here's my little Sophia in her rainbow heart sweater.

  

Simplicity: Vintage

Faith's weekly photo challenge has a "vintage" theme this week. It can either be something vintage or it can be edited with a vintage feel. I'm not much of a vintage girl myself. I'm sure I have a few things around, but nothing that was really speaking to me for this challenge. So, I took a shot of a mantel clock I have here in my office and used some new editing techniques I learned from Ashley at Rambling's and Photos to give it a more aged appearance.

Simplicity: Something Different

The challenge at Simplicity this week is to shoot something different, out of your normal style, not your normal subject. I guess for me this means, not my kids! Ha! Well, for me vacation photos mean faces. In fact, it usually means smiling faces posing in front of cool stuff we're visiting. But, on this recent trip something funny happened. Sophia ordered a chocolate fondue dessert and when she was eating, the chocolate obviously dripped a LOT. Well, her drips made a Mickey Mouse on her plate and she was the first to notice it. We all thought it was a sign that it would be a magical trip (this was our first night there) and we were right. So, here's my non-kid shot (different subject) taken with my point and shoot camera (different equipment).

Simplicity: Food

My entry for Simplicity's Food challenge is this morning's breakfast (my girls' fave), the smiley face sunshine. It's probably not the most beautiful thing to photograph, but it's the only sun we've seen in DAYS so it's pretty fantastic to us!

This was really really hard for me and I'm still not very happy with it, but I'm out of time (in other words, the girls are getting restless). So, here's my entry for Simplicity's white on white challenge.

Simplicity: Simple Beauty

Faith is asking us to capture simple beauty this week at Simplicity's photo challenge. I just love my oldest daughter's gorgeous brown eyes. They are huge, with thick dark lashes and a twinkle of joy mixed with mischief. To me, they are simply beautiful!

Simplicity Photo Challenge: Your Favorite Photo

This week they want our favorite photo over at Simplicity. It can be from any time! Can you imagine me going through every photo I've taken to find "the one"? I can't! However, I did happen to take one just a few days ago that I'm sooo in love with right now. This is my little Sophia. If you've met her, you know that this face is totally her. She's almost always happy and light hearted and this is one of the most genuine pictures I've ever taken of her. You know, because she's 3 and gives you the cheesy squinchy smiles now. Ha!
